Rodney Verhoeff, PMP®/CSM®/CSPO®/SPC4® is a program and project leadership professional and a niche management consulting firm owner with over 15 years teaching and 20 years of experience in project management, environmental science, IT, and instruction/professional training. Having worked with Creighton University as a consultant and instructor for the past 5 years with the Creighton Business Institute (CBI) and Center for Corporate & Professional Excellence at CU, he joined the faculty of Heider College of Business (HCB) full time in 2016, where he oversees the Graduate Certificate in Project Management (GCPM) program, leads the project component of the Leadership Experience Accelerator Program (LEAP), and teaches/instructs and consults for external partnership project management and leadership programs.
Rodney has served in a variety of capacities from environmental scientist to executive director to invasive species coordinator including leading two regional watershed management entities in Nebraska - the Niobrara Scenic River Council and the Lower Platte River Corridor Alliance. He is currently involved with the accreditation process for HCB and has past experience successfully gaining accreditation for a project management undergraduate program through the Project Management Institute’s Global Accreditation Center (PMI-GAC) – something only a handful of schools in the world have received.
Rodney holds a Project Management Professional (PMP®) designation and is a Certified Scrum Master (CSM®), Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO®), and Certified SAFe Program Consultant (SPC4®). He also holds certifications in non-profit leadership and watershed management. He earned his B.Sc. in Natural Resources, with a major in Water Science and his M.Sc. in Agronomy, with specialization in soil and water science/soil physics, both from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UN-L). He received the highest commendation from the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission for his dedication to Nebraska’s natural resources and has been known to navigate the waters of Nebraska in canoe, kayak, and even an airboat on the lower Platte River. In 2019, Rodney was also awarded with the Cahill Award for Excellence for his contributions to the Heider College of Business at Creighton University.
On a personal note, Rodney grew up in a small town in southeastern Nebraska getting his hands in the mud and feet in the creeks. He is a licensed MMA judge for the states of Nebraska and Kansas, enjoys landscaping and gardening, and has a passion for tea, so much so, that he and his wife started a tea company to help others learn about the virtues of drinking tea. Rodney and his wife are also Halloween enthusiasts and take every opportunity to dress-up in their favorite costumes including for their Halloween-themed wedding, where all attendees were also required to come in costume.
